At your first interview with us you will discuss how you are going to pay for your case.
This firm does not deal with Legal Aid cases and you will be advised to seek advice at other local participating solicitors firms if you wish to obtain Legal Aid.
We will try to give you an approximate estimation of how much the case is likely to cost. This is extremely difficult to estimate as it involves not only considering how complicated your case is but what the chances of success are and, indeed whether you could be liable to pay the costs of the other side if you lose. We will try however, to give you as much information as possible about the cost.
For example, we can usually provide a fixed fee of £950.00 plus Vat and Court fees of £300.00 for uncontested divorce proceedings. Our hourly rate of Mrs Penny Raby is £250.00 per hour and £25.00 per item for untimed letters and telephone calls. Mr Mike Gordon FCMA our Forensic Accountant charges at £250.00 per hour.
These hourly rates will be amended from time to time and you will be notified in writing in advance of any amendments to be made. Please note that VAT and disbursements including Court fees are extra to this rate. We ask for a substantial initial payment on account of Costs based on an assessment of the complexity of each individual case handled. We will bill you on a monthly basis thereafter. In this way you will be kept up to date as to the costs of the case and avoid a large bill at the end of the day. Please note that the payment period of any account rendered extends to 7 days from the date of the account. You may pay a regular standing order if you prefer. Please note in particular that if payment is not made by the due date, we regard our instruction as terminated or suspended and cease working on the file. Under Law Society regulations we must not operate without client’s instructions.
Please do not hesitate to discuss problems regarding costs with us.
